Born in Detroit, Michigan; Pamela comes from a family of artists. Her talent comes naturally, following in the footsteps of her late father, Merle Whipple, a successful commercial and fine artist, whom she studied under. At age 37 she moved to California and fell in love with the Southwestern region of the United States.
Pamela put her art career on hold to raise her 3 children. During that time she went back to school and earned a B.S.W. from California State University, Long Beach, a M.A. from Chapman University and worked in the field of Child Welfare. After retiring Pamela decided to return to her artistic roots and began a second career as an artist.
Pamela has become one of Arizona’s most creative and prolific artists. Pamela’s contemporary abstracts, which she calls “Southwestern Fusion”, are well known for their vibrant and metallic colors merging in intensity to create the rich heritage of the American Southwest.
“I like to fuse the beautiful landscapes and environment of the Southwest with my love for the ancient American petroglyphs. This environment has molded my soul and influenced the way I create my art. I want my art to reach out and grab your eye. I never know what my work will become until the journey is over, and that may not happen until it reaches your soul.”
Pamela’s work can be seen in homes and corporate collections in Arizona, California, Michigan, and Puerto Rico. Pamela is represented by Grayleaf Galleria in Prescott, Arizona, where she also has her studio.
